I think I understand your question and I think it may be because people who are hungry, cold and have a struggle to exist are more aggressive because they are in survival mode all the time.

Do you mean like the Apaches in the Southwest, or like the Blackfeet in the Northwest, or like the Spaniards (I wasn't expecting the Spanish Inquisition) of Europe's Southwest, or like the Vikings of Europe's far North (but not Northeast), or like the Japanese of East Asia, or like the Incans of South America's Northwest?

well it depends of the perspective...Since history is written by the winners the barbarians came from lands not occupied by Rome. They were called barbarians because they were "uncivilized" and did not worship and live the same way the Romans did.
