Obviously this is a case of a classic attachment issues. You got to ask yourself was the breakup clean and was it where one person broke up with another. In the latter case, this could pose to be a situation where the guy was not ready for a breakup.
Another answer is that he could be just using these tactics as an act of jealousy. Isn't there a golden rule that half of the amount of time you went out is the time you should spend recovering. 6 weeks is a short time for a relationship that was a year. So he is just using as a sort of cat and mouse game and is trying to entice you to get back with him.
Plus, it is always common for guys to compare themselves with other guys. An great example of that is when a guy asks if I was ever the best in bed.

He still likes you... If he's telling all this crap then he's just wishing that you all were still together... He's making up all the crap that he tells you, and he actually thinks that you look better thank her and etc.. If you don't have a new bf find one fast, and start telling him how much better the new guy is compared to him even if you dont really think so, just act so.. Tell him that he does nothing right compared to the new guy, and that he has alot to learn... It'll open his eyes, and he'll come crawling back...

If you broke up 6 weeks ago, you guys need some time apart. Leave each other alone for a few months to get over all that silly vindictiveness.

when you broke up it obviously hurt him alot so now he is tryin to show you what he thinks you missin. sounds like he is resorting back to what boys do in elementary constantly tease and annoy the girls they like most as so to make it seem like they dont like the girl at all i know there is at least 3 boys at my school that do it to me and im still in high school men are insane that why i'll pick a girl over a guy any life time even if as they say will lead to a fiery after life. hope this helps a lil

It seems like this is common behavior for someone who wants to make you jealous, but if he broke up with you then I dont know. Maybe he wanted things different and thats why he broke up and now he wants you to be jealous .....I dont know.

More importantly, why are you hanging around with him so much that you KNOW his opinions about his new gf? Why are you caring? Why are you even DISCUSSING your new relationships with each other? If its over, ITS OVER. Move on!
