I have noticed some answers that are rude when someone askes about another race or about gay people. Why be rude? Some of the question are just questions, the person is curious and is trying to educate themselves. I understand the rudness if the person asking a question uses a derogatory term but why be rude just because of a simple question?

I agree! No one is forcing you to read or answer any of the questions. If I don't care for a question, I just choose not to answer. Maybe they enjoy being rude and getting points while they are at it? You can't change people.

Race and sexual orientation questions, like politics, tend to be subjects that just hit a nerve, seemingly regardless of how the questions are asked. I mean, think about it - we all know that some people who visit Answers are very racist. Others are homophobic. A racist person who sees a question about race will most likely answer with a derogatory answer. A homophobic person will probably answer a question about gay people in the same way.

I really like Answers - but this site is really lacking in tolerance and respect for opposing viewpoints of others. Some people who visit here think it's perfectly alright to verbally attack people they disagree with.

I'm offended thatn you asked this question!

;)

no, you are correct. we should all approach honest questions more respectfully. I think maybe we (the collective 'we' of this board) all get used to the nasty questioners, and are ready to jump to conclusions sometimes.

Because some folks are naturally defensive...And some people are just as arrogant as can be.Tis human nature.
