goldfish DO commonly breed in aquariums if conditions are right
I bred all the fancy goldfish inside only the comets and shubunkins breed in the ponds, some of the fish are too valuable to put outside
get a book about goldfish and learn how to set up your breeders

I don't understand why people say that, if they are in a proper sized tank with proper filtration they should have no problem breeding. I have had my goldfish for only 2 1/2 years and they have bred twice for me. Just look up the correct way to take care of goldfish and you should have no problem if they are old enough and of course you have both sexes. You should also look up ways to trigger breeding if you don't want to wait until the spring.

If you have 1 male and 1 female, and they aren't breeding, chances are they are not 'comfortable' in their environment. Check the water temp, filtration, and overall cleanliness of your tank.
