Ok I am 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant, and I have done lots of reading... the book "What to expect when you are expecting"... and its kiinda scaring me, the whole miscarriage section... so now I am worried about every little cramp or pain I feel.... does anyone understand how I feel... everyday I am thankful for a successful day... however its makinig me crazy... I know I shouldnt think about it, but with this being my first pregnancy I am, and I wish I wasn't... I am also thinking of happy things and wonderful things of how our (my husband, baby, and I) life will be... but the whole miscarry thing keeps creeping its way into my mind... so has anyone gone through this?? What are the odds of miscarrying??

I know the symptoms.... and I havent had any.

Can anyone give me some guidance or advice on how to get through these next 6 weeks??

Thank you sooooo much!!!!

What you are going through is natural...and no matter how many times you get pregnant you still worry at first. The book you have is the best one I ever read...don't linger on the scary stuff. It is information you need, but you don't have to dwell on it. Talk to your Ob/Gyn and tell them how you feel & what you read...this is when you start forming an honest open relationship with the person who is going to help you bring your baby into the world. Don't ask for odds...eat well, get plenty of rest and take your vitamins!! Trust yourself & use common sense. Enjoy this time....and try not to listen to too many "birth stories" and don't buy into the "if you don't have it natural you haven't truly experienced" the birth. Bottom line is as long as you are both healthy that's all that counts....no matter how you have your baby from natural to c-section!!! Feel free to email me for moral support anytime!! lol :)

I did the exact same thing with my first pregnancy. But everything went fine for me, and I am sure it will for you too. I later had a miscarriage before having another successful pregnancy, and trust me, you would know if you were having one. All those little aches and pains and crampiness is totally normal as your body changes to make room for the baby and adjusts. I also read somewhere that most miscarriages happen even before a woman knows she is pregnant, so as long as you are getting good prenatal care and taking care of yourself, you probably don't have a thing to worry about. Stop reading all the miscarriage parts of the books, and relax. Take advantage of this time to yourself, and good luck!

I lost my first oreganncy so when I got pregnant again I was scared to death. Unfortunately you have to take what life deals you. Just relax and eat right. Don't stress yourself out about the whoel miacarriage thing. Ans throw the books away. I find that they stress you out even more than ever. Each woman is different with each pregnancy.

I have not gone through pregnancy but I've seen my sister and cousin go through it. I should probably go back to the doctor and talk about it. maybe take some classes on the whole pregnancy thing. It's gonna be alright.

You'll be fine. Twinges are completely normal. Just try to keep your mind on other things, and try to eat healthy, and take your vitamins. Try not to do any lifting unless it is ok with your doctor.

I understand completely how you feel. My mid wife told me to throw that book away as it makes new mommy's very nervous.
The odds are I think 20% of documented pregnancy's end in miscarriage.
