If one is overweight, it contributes to making these conditions worse. Also, diet and exercise are very important in controlling these 3 conditions.
1. Diabetes - can be controlled by monitoring his sugar levels & diet and taking prescribed medications. There is no cure for diabetes at this time, but there are a lot of new medications out to help control it. Low-carb/sugar diets are best for diabetes.
2. Hypertension - can be controlled by exercising regularly and taking prescribed medications. Some can, in time, get off the medications, but they need to maintain the exercise/activity. Also a low-salt diet helps.
3. Cholesterol - can be controlled by diet and prescribed medications. Important to monitor HDL, LDL and trygliceride levels regularly via blood tests when taking these medications. Should try to restrict the amount of red meat and saturated fats in your diet...i.e., don't eat cakes, cookies, chips or french fries. Read the labels on all the food items to see how much fat & cholesterol is in the product before you buy it.

Diabetes lipidemia (cholesterol) and hypertension are commonly seen together. With present treatment options control of glucose lipids and hypertension should be easy to achieve and once under control visits to the physician would be every 3 months. Goals for glucose are as low as possible without side effects - for LDL cholesterol 70 or below - and for blood pressure below 120/070. Again - these numbers are relatively easy to achieve although newer medications are more expensive.

First thing I would ask is his weight and size. If he is overweight, and his waist is more than 40 inches, this may be why. Heredity plays a part in all these conditions. But I know I was diagnosed with hypertension specifically because of a weight problem. I was told that losing weight would straighten out my health profile. It did.
Best of luck.

1) Diabetes--you can't cure it, but you can teach him to monitor his blood sugar.
2) Hypertension--no idea, ask your doctor.
3) Cholesterol--watch what he eats, possibly take a pill that helps to lower it, etc. Controllable--talk to your doctor.

your husband has to go to a diabetes specialist or endocrinologist or both and find out more about his illness,he isnt having good control of his glucose and that affects both the other illnesses my son has had diabetes for twenty years you have to check with the dr regularly, take control of your own health and do what you are told,he will suffer the consequences if he doesnt like blindness, kidney functions, numbness or worse so the only thing to do is find a specialist you like and keep you blood sugar in the 60 to 100 mg/dsl range take you blood test at home at least three times per day and more if you are out of control

This has been going on for 7 years?
Obviously, he's not doing the things he supposed to be doing.
Why don't you talk to his doctors?
