I was taking orthtricyclin lo for 3 months. Then last month I decided to stop taking pills due to side effects and my husband used condom most of the time except in the last week of my cycle (27th day onwards). But I havent got my period yet. (Today is 34th day of my cycle) I took pregnancy test. It was negative. Why didnt I get my periods? Is it normal to skip period after stopping birth control pill? Could I still be pregnant? Should I take pregnancy test again after some days? I appreciate help. Thanks

You could be pregnant or your body could just be adjusting to not having the pill. It can take up to 6 months for your period to come back after stopping.

WEll it is normal to be a few days late after you stop taking the pill. The pill has hormones in it that make your period regular, so if you miss a pill or stop taking it all together the hormones slow down your cycle. If your a few days late its normal. If your more than a week late you may want to take another pregnancy test, or call your doctor.

Take a pregnancy test ($8 bucks and worth the relief-- hopefully)! I had a similar experience and the 'withdrawal' method failed. If you are a week late, the test should be accurate. If you find that you are not pregnant, be patient. It can take a while for your body to get back on track. If you are very annoyed with waiting, you can actually just start taking the pill when you want (this Sunday for a Sunday start). You may experience spotting, but it won't cause any harm to you.

Taking the "pill" regulated your periods. Now that you have stopped, they will be irregular a few times. But if you don't want to get pregnant continue to use a condom,or other means of birth control. If you don't have a period, within 21 days take another test.

Wait a while. If your period doesn't come, take another pregnancy test. If that's negative, tell your doctor that you haven't had your period since birth control pills.

A woman's menstrual cycle can behave quite erratically and be completely normal. You can expect your body to need some time to adjust after being on birth control.

BTW - if you had trouble with side-effects of the pill, I recommend the patch or nuvaring. These give your body the hormones at a regular, constant rate. I found it eliminated my side-effects.

I just recently stopped my BC and was a week later than I would have been had I been on the pill. So I would say wait another week or so and you can always retest if you are still concerned about being pregnant.

it's normal to miss period or be late when you just went off the pill. I wouldn't worry too much...I don't think you are pg.
