me and my girlfriend were dating for a very long time amd i love her to death but she is just so jealous sometimes, she gets on my nerves and acts like she doesnt trust me but you know she was improving and i still adore her with all my heart i believe we are soul mates but see one day she accused me of cheating on her because she found a text message with one of my friends just talking as friends but she took it the wrong way, so i broke it off with her and from all the anger i was so frustrated i was telling people you know i am happy to be single but that wasnt the case i was just upset, and she got into my face so i swore at her =x then she started to beat me and and got crazy so i hit her back.... i regret it till this day because now i dont know i love her with all my heart and it was just a reaction... should i have done it... and do you think she will ever forgive me? i never beat on her it was just i g

You should not hit your partner! Though I really hope you felt bad with it and swear not to do it again.
I think it is just good for the both of you to part ways, imagine if you are still together and your gf would always go crazy over somthing innocent and that is only a text message what if she see's you talking to this friend of yours.
Both of you will find somebody else that will compliment the other.

Wow thats a difficult situation. I tend to think if someone is hitting you they deserve to be hit back, but a man's punch is quite different from a woman's and if you said you just pushed her to get her off I would understand more.
I wouldn't date someone that is jealous of you, that is lack of trust and once the trust is gone there is not much of a foundation to rebuild a relationship on. I think you should just move on.

Maybe the two of you need some time apart. If you say it was a reaction i guess that's fine but did you tell her how much you regretted it? on the other hand often times that's how the abuse starts and maybe the two of you should break it off for a while
