What are the advantages and disadvantages of PS3?

The biggest disadvantage is it is not a Xbox 360.

People are going to get on here and say that:

the Blue Ray looks better -not true, it depends on the game. Blue Ray is new, expensive, overrated, and not catching on. Stick with Xbox and HD.

Games are better for PS - Not true. Xbox is known for having better games. And not those silly Japanese anime RPG games PS tends to put out.

The biggest thing is Online gaming. If you NEVER play on line and you want to spend more money for no reason then get the PS3. If you enjoy playing on line then the 360 is your only choice. Xbox owns the on-line gaming industry. PS cannot catch up to what Xbox offers on line with the 360 (or the original for that matter).

Of course we all know that it comes down to personal preference, but the 360 offers so much more.

riddle me this..ps3 is not only good..its great. The biggest advantage is that it's not an xbox360. Other than that the fact that it blueray support makes it almost godly. The fact that people are saying that its not "sticking" is just profound. More investors are backing bluray than anyother media player ever. Yah PS3 doesn't have as many good games as Xbox360..YET. It's been out for all 3 days. When playing, buying, looking, at an xbox360 you should turn around look at yourself and question.. am i really satisfied with second best. tell you the truth I'm not. PS3 price would probably have to be the biggest disadvantage. But, you seriously underestimate the fact that it has bluray. It's the cheapest in the market. The amount of money it costs per playstation3 is estimated at around 850$. Meaning there selling them at a loss. Generally many video game systems will sell there product at a loss in foresight that there games will make up for this loss. So tell me do you reeeeeally think that an xbox399 will be as good as a ps3.

If your a true Play Station fan then your going to really like the new PS3. The graphics are awsome and it can still play the PS2 games and DVD. I don't know if it can still play just regular PS games. I haven't tried yet. And now it should come with a wireless controller. That's cool. And the only disadvantage I can think of is the fact that there is more wires to deal with. I have tons from all the game stations I have. And The games are really expensive. They reach almost $100. But untill further playing I can't say there's anything wrong with it untill years go by. It's only been out for a few days now.

Honey, PS3 is the best thing that Sony has ever created! I buy mostly Sony electronic products, so I know what I'm talking about when I say PS3 is the best product. If you would like to buy a PS3 game, I would recommend Ridge Racer 7, or a sports game. The PS3 has very nice graphics. Actually, they are so great it could possibly make you cry. I've heard that they require a high-speed Internet connection for the start up, or something like that. Xbox 360 is hopefully going to be knocked off the shelves by PlayStation 3. I was thinking on buying a Xbox 360 until Microsoft starting showing themselves about PS3's functions. One final thing. I know a place where you may be able to order a PS3 for retail price. (www.sony.com.) Check with it often to see when they are available.

Somebody mentioned Ridge Racer 7 as being a great PS3 game to see it's power.

Funny - check out this article that shows how the Xbox version of this game is MUCH, MUCH better graphically that the PS3 version. Water textures, road textures, lighting - basically everything relating to graphics is superior on the 360.

And one last thing - if you play online, against other people, head to head (which is at least 50% of what I enjoy about gaming) then the 360 is HANDS DOWN the best system. Sony has never demonstrated any ability to put together a viable online gaming community. Xbox live is over 4 million strong, and once you begin appreciating what it offers, it becomes the center of your gaming experience.

In 2 days, Xbox Live will begin offering High Definition movies and TV shows for download. So I can watch HD without ANY drive, HD or Blu-Ray.

If you are going to connect it to the internet and play online, go 360. Sony doesn't have a clue about the networking side of the business.

Not very good at all. The games aren't that great and its not very exiting in the graphs department. The 360's are better and more fun to play. I suggest you either purchase a Nintendo wii or an xbox 360. Both are more fun than the PS3.

Um, as of right now good isnt compatible with ps3. It has impressive graphics but not as impressive as the 360. Ps3 has only a set number of 4 intresting games. I suggest you go with an xbox360 if your ready to purchase one of the 2. Plus xbox360 is cheaper lessening the chance you will be shot trying to buy it in the store..

i'm personally not paying a dime for the PS3 until Sony gets it through their greedy skulls that nobody wants to buy a system that "brands" their games -- makes them unable to be played on other PS3's. if you want a "gaming" system, then get a 360 or a Wii -- if you want a rip-off computer, then get a PS3
