Okay, let's look at the facts. Darth Maul was LONG DEAD way before there was a Darth Vader! Remember, Maul died when Anakin Skywalker was 10 years old! Anakin didn't 'become' Vader until he was in his early 20s. So I'm thinking the one who's alive could kick the dead guy's butt easily!!!!!!!!! LOL! Add to this the fact that Maul used his physical traits to kick butt but Vader used the Force to kick butt without getting physical and it's obvious that the force was with Darth Vader much stronger than Maul. Maul didn't take advantage of the force and thus relied on his own physical abilities, which were his downfall. Vader was very strong with the force and yes, he didn't have the physical body to fight as Maul did, but he DID have the FORCE and THAT was his strongest point. He conquered a galaxy using the force, so there's no doubt he would've conquered a weak-minded strong-hold, like Darth Maul! :-)

Darth Maul. Darth Vader was supposed to be past his prime, as Lucas made clear on the DVD commentary; he even described him as 'a bit of a joke', as illustrated by Adm. Motti's mocking of him in ANH.

The Emperor was glad for the chance to replace him with the younger Luke Skywalker in ROTJ. Vader was fine at bullying non-Jedis with the force, or novices like Luke, but was full of pain and articificial limbs, and would not have been a match for a fit Sith Lord like Maul in his prime.

Well Maul got himself sliced in two by Obi Wan in the 1st movie. Vader kicked butt the whole time. After Maul was through dancing around Vader would have sliced him in more pieces than Obi Wan did.
