Has anyone ever hired a private investigator to follow your spouce? How much did it cost you? Was it worth it? I'm thinking of hiring one because Texas is a community property state. I believe he is commiting adultery.

I know about the show Cheater's, but
1) My situtation may not be chosen
2) I don't think I want my personal life and tragedy all over television

I hired one. Spent $3000 for a three day investigation. I got nothing at all that I didn't know already.

If I had it to do over, I'd have invested in a nanny cam or some way to record his conversations. That would have done much better for me.

As for the adultery claim, it is pretty hard to prove. Get a free consultation from an atty and ask them exactly what proof you'd need to convince the court.

Good luck!

Avg. cost was around $50 per hour plus costs but this might vary due to the type of surveillance. This is usually hit or miss, some investigators may sit for hours and never find anything but the pay off could be huge if something were found. Make sure you do your research on the PI and if you can talk to a lawyer and see who they may refer you to. Before you decide to do it yourself check your local laws, you don't want to end up in jail or with fines. Do not give him any more ammunition. Good luck!

A private investigator will cost you a lot of $. They will charge like a lawyer, by the hour on a retainer. For most people, it's probably not affordable. If I were you, I'd just do it myself or get a trusted friend or family member to do it. Tell your husband that you are going out of town for the weekend, but instead rent a van and watch. Bring the binoculars and camera. Take some pics. If he is having an affair, it probably won't take long to know.

Okay, let's say she is right about her husband having an affair, what does she wants to do? Divorce him? Let me tell you what a man will do, his actual intention is just to have a private affair outside, after all, who is the wife? If your friend confront him, that's nothing to hide anymore, so take it or leave it? Which one will your friend chose? The most powerful of a woman is that try to use up all his money into her own bank account, slowly but surely. Transfer all the $$$ that both husband and wife had joined name, leave a samll amount in the bank and open up her own account in her own name. With all the supplementary credit cards that her husband had given to her, tell her to withdraw the maximum amount, if that cannot be done, ask her to buy expensive items (but not diamond) when sold there is no value or use the credit card to buy either blue-chips stock or insurance and pay a lump sum of short maturity period. That is the only way to control their man and that is to make sure they do not have extra money to have extra affair.

for god's sake become your own private investigator . get yoursel f a decent camera or borrow one from somebody prefably one with a zoom lense for obvious reasons and wear hats and sunglasses when needed and all of old clothes that he would never suspect you of wearing. It is really easy just get the pics and then the divorce will be no problem and chances are you will get everything you want in the divorce. good luck and god bless and happy thanksgiving.

Why hire an PI when you can do the work yourself? Buy a recorder to install in the phone. Follow him, question neighbors, etc. If he's cheating, you'll eventually catch him.

I wouldn't hire one, I'd do it all myself. I have and found out everything I needed to know.

Good luck and I hope your suspicions are wrong, but the gut is usually right.

Is Texas also a no-fault divorce state? Idaho is, so it doesn't matter if he is cheating, the assets are always divided up equally.
