My brother is going to study in mexico city from February to June, so I will go there for 2 weeks (not 2 weeks in mexico city, I want to move!). When would be the best period to go (I want to avoid the hurricanes and spring break students...), and what should I absolutely see? I'd love to see archeologic sites, which ones are the best? And of course, couple of day at the sea! And if you know some good places to stay for the night (cheaper as possible, I don't really care about comfort, but I would love little places in the jungle for example), let me know! Muchas Gracias from Belgium!

Mexico as the others said is big and diverse. You can see Native Peoples, Ancient ruins, International cities, Oceans, Deserts.

Try this website: all about Mexico.com might be a start. you should do some research on your own.

Spring break is spring break here in the US so you have to be the judge when to not go or avoid the students.

If you would like to get out of the cold go in February and if you want to be out of the tourist season go May & June...

Have fun...

There are lots a good places to visit in Mexico City. The Zocalo and the canals of Xochimilco, Zona Rosa, La Condesa to name a couple. Teotihuacan is a great archiological site very close to Mexico City (Chichen Itza is another great one in the Yucatan). There are other beautiful cities rich in tradition you could visit like Guanajuato, Querétaro, Guadalajara. You can drive there or you can also find affordable flights within Mexico via Interjet or Volaris.

As far as beaches there are the obvious Cancun, Acapulco, and Puerto Vallarta, but there are several others that are just as beautiful and less hassle. Closest to Mexico City is Ixtapa- Zihuatanejo, but there is also Veracruz, and Playa del Carmen and several other beach cities along the Riveriera Maya.

2 weeks will go by very fast, I would just try to do a coupel things and really enjoy them rather than cram a bunch of things and places and not getting the whole experience.

A good thing to do is have your brother get recommendations from his school, they can give you good info as to safety and good times to go.

Do you realize how big Mexico is? I think you might want to consult a tavel agent.
Meanwhile, our favourite part of Mexico is the Yukatan peninsula...(South of Cancun) it has beaches, jungle and ruins. But it is a long way from Mexico city.
It is also very affordable - ask about an "all inclusive" resort.
