why living things sink in water and dead bodies float over water?

Yes and when you are alive your boby is intact (flesh is dence) but when a creature dies its body expands and air is created inside it thus becoming less dence even though heavy.
thus it floats

its all about relative dencity.

After death, the corpse starts to decay which releases gases which make it buoyant.
