I go with J. Morrison ... I felt his lyrics more and was more creative
Lennon, while great, was more touchly feely good. I believe Morrison while had darker lyrics ... spoke more truth than optimism.
I love both, but, Morrison gets my vote

John Lennon is the obvious choice for most,but I feel Jim Morrison was more introspective.Jim Morrison was truly ahead of his times.

Jim Morrison, no one can come close to that voice and hes a great poet
but i must say Lennon was an amazing musician as well

Jim Morrison was a true genius, Lennon was a Philosopher ahead of his time. Of the two I pick Morrison

Wow...toughie.
I agree with your evaluation of Morrison. He was by far the superior singer, and his work much more visceral and brutally honest. However, I think Lennon's musical composition was more daring, and his sense of wordplay was witty and provocative, even if it was often overly idealistic in its content. As a matter of personal preference, Lennon by a nose.
I do wonder what Morrison would've done with the extra 10 years Lennon got.

I preferred Morrison's music, but Lennon was a real writer & way more prolific - and seriously "when the music's over, turn out the light" - that's the truth?

I agree with you. I love both but Morrison gets my vote. I have many more Doors albums than Beatles. I also have Morrison's An American Prayer, which is awesome. Do you have that? Do you like it?
