Hi. my baby was almost three weeks late. I was determined that i didnt want an induction, and luckily the baby was born day before induction was booked. I tried so many different things but i think the best advice is that the baby will come when he/she is ready. In the mean time do plenty of walking(preferably up steps or hills), have lots of sex, and have a hot soak in the bath. I asked my midwife to do a membrane sweep which i think helped to get things going. i hope you have a nice labour like i did and a beautiful healthy baby at the end of it. gooluck x

The due date is nothing but an estimation. You are two days past the estimated birth date, but that does not mean that your baby is late. 38-42 weeks is considered full term and on time. I know that this can be an anxious time and you're really ready to give birth and meet your baby, but the best thing you can do is nothing. Relax, take long walks, have sex; these things can help kick things off IF your body and your baby are ready; but they will not harm you or your baby either. I would strongly suggest NOT inducing labor. Incuding labor increases complcations for you and for your baby, increases your chance of cesarean and is not medically indicated for someone that is 40w2d.

I really don't think I would worry about 2 days. The time is an estimate at best. Walking can be good for you. Trying to self induce labor could be hazardous. My doctor suggested the castor oil on my first delivery. I was still induced from scratch the next morning. It had absolutely no effect. And I have heard since that it can be dangerous to use castor oil. I suggest you just sit back, relax and the baby will arrive when he is supposed to.

The problem with babies is they have their own schedules and will come when they are good and ready.. Your due date is really an estimate and can be anywhere from 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after. I would just enjoy the quiet, get alot of rest and get ready for the wonderful event :)

try any of the following ....
Walk
Sex
Castor oil- It is believed to work by causing spasms in the intestines, which surround the uterus toward the end of pregnancy. These spasms, in turn, cause the uterus to cramp, which might result in labor. You can take 1 to 4 ounces of castor oil mixed with 6 ounces of orange juice to cut its oiliness
Spicy food
Blue and black cohosh-These herbs are used often to induce labor. They may be particularly effective if you are having weak or irregular contractions. Blue cohosh is believed to make uterine contractions stronger, while black cohosh may regulate the contractions. Together, they work to make contractions more effective.
Nipple stimulation
Stripping the membranes-This procedure usually feels like a vaginal examination, although it sometimes can be painful or cause cramping. The practitioner places her gloved finger through the cervix and sweeps the amniotic membranes free of their attachment to the lower part of the uterine cavity

I'm afraid your going to have to be patient, the baby will come when it's ready.
I know it's uncomfortable and you've had enough of the sleepless nights, being used as a punching bag.
Try having really hot baths, with a few drops of Lavender and Chamomile in it.It's very relaxing.
I also found that sex really helped!
In hospital they give you a prostin,to start you off,( i can't think of the right name for it right now),but there something in the sperm that does start your labour naturally.

Get yourself some Raspberry leaf tea, a friend of mine who has 6 kids (yes, she's slightly mad) swears by it.
My first was induced at 9 days over and the second was two weeks early, so I never got to try it the second time around.

Good luck!

Have you tried Black Kohosh? You have to get it in a health food store or like a GNC I think. I would suggest getting Blue kohosh too, and alternating. Instructions are on the bottle (I think it's like 20 drops in your water or something every hour) I have heard it works!!

You could also try walking and eating a Caesar salad!!!

Hardly any babies are born on their due date, so don't worry. My mother tells me I was 10 days late, and the day before she was running for a bus. That probably did it.

Good luck! ^_^
