...to put on youtube? To watch if someone else has put it on?

Nope it is not illegal to watch them if someone else has put them on there. Sometimes the artist will contact the site that their video is on and ask them to tell them take it down or they will take legal action.

It is legal to download ANY video, including music videos from YouTube. A good program to do this is: DVDVideoSoft, it will allow you to put YouTube videos into mp4 format so you can put them on your iPod, a DVD, or basically anything. Not sure about extracting music from them, though. But my guess would be that extracting the music would be illegal since you would be putting it into a CD form without paying for it.

As long as you don't download them you have nothing to worry about because the person that submitted them to Youtube essentially gives permission for that (assuming of course they are the copyright holder) In cases where people complain about a copyright infringment, Youtube will remove the content. Their policy about content is that you can put whatever you want on the site, we'll look the other way when it comes to copyright laws until someone complains about a specific video or content

In my opinion, Youtube is legal... althougt when you want copy vidio or somethink do with that, that's ilegal.... YouTube is the best webside for whatching music videos or what you want watch.. =)))) good is google video side as well.... =)))

some are copyrighted and illegal to put on - but as far as i know it is youtube's and the copyright holders to remove the content.

i think they couldnt sue youtube til now cause they had no money. thats why googles gonna ruin it
