One is at a video store that pays $9 per hour and the other is at a convenience store that pays $8 per hour. Between the two jobs, you want to earn at least $240 per week.

9v + 8x >= 240

where v = hours worked in video store
where c = hours worked in convenience store

In order to do this we would need to know how much taxes they are taking out your check. Because if you work 30 hours at the video store you would be grossing $270. Also 30 hours at other store you would gross $240 giving you a combined total of $510. Here in Michigan I believe anything under 36 hours a week is still part time work.
P.S: It would be better if you talked the Video Store into hiring you full time.

I think you need to know the total amount of hours your are able to work for. Then it wil be

9x+8y=$240
x+y = total number of hours

Then solve system of equation (solve for y in bottom equation, and plug it in in for y in the top equation)
