I think metal kicks a**. I hate it when people think that all metal heads are a bunch of losers who drop out school, do drugs, etc. I am a metalhead and I am actually quite intelligent, love school, learning, etc. Also to prove a point try listening to "Peace Sells" by Megadeth, which talks about metalheads being "normal" people, plus it's an awesome song!

Metal music rocks and the people who listen to it are about as diverse as any other music type. If you're very into the scene then you may be likely to dress in a certain way but all of us are different.

Metal is actually a pretty specific music terminology for us in the community and most people above 21 would not define themselves as a "metaller" unless that is what they are exclusively into. From there on in "dress codes" can change according to sub-genre, but again; people are pretty diverse.

Everyone has their own tastes in music. But I think metal rules!! I also think that some out there think all metal music is about worshiping devil and stuff like that but they are far from correct. Some metal music does, most doesn't.

When Nirvanna and those bands came out, metal seemed to go away ;-(. I am a fan of those bands, but think metal needs to make a comeback. Some metal bands are still around, Motorheard, AC/DC, KISS, Guns n Roses - but we need more!!

Heavy metal music and it's fans seem to have earned themselves a rather unfair and negative image.

OK, the music is not for everyone... but I think, should you actually go to a metal concert you would be pleasantly surprised to find that contrary to the stereotypical image, most metal fans are free thinking, intelligent individuals, just trying to get on with life like the rest of society.

There are in general far worse groups out there than metal-heads...

What should I think... - people are free to listen to what they want and what they like. I like all types of music and sometimes when I am in a mood for metal music I listen to it.

I think the same as i do about anyone else.
Musical taste is a strange thing. Anyone who takes on a 'lifestyle' or 'image' to an excess, I would see as a bit odd.

I was mostly into dance / rave music in my teens (90s) but have always listened to almost anything from nu-metal to beethoven. Good music isn't restricted to any one 'genre'

everyone has their own taste and preference. I personally do not like metal music, but have friends who do so the music type doesnt count for the people that listen to it.

i like metal, but metal tends to draw in a pretty obnoxious crowd of people.

then again so does every other type of music.

if you're looking for some good metal, listen to Soulfly. They're the best.
