This is a set frequency standard. to be applied in the transmission of signals and communication. by the use of radio frequencies that will be used by audio transmitors to audio recivers.

The international bodies like IEEE(Institute of Electrical & Electronic Engeneers) are responcible for making standards to which devises can operate otherwise intercommunication of devices would be an Almost impossible and tideous task. as there wouldn't be a common ground in which one would operate from.

88-108Mhz was designated by the FCC in the 40's or 50's as the designated bandwidth for FM radio,which,by the way, lies between TV channels 6 and 7,, ;-)=

These are assigned Frequencies by the FCC for FM stations. All radios are set for that range for FM.
