I'm thinking chinatown, but where can I get a good deal on a cheap but good digital cam and ipod in NYC?

I agree with the person above, J&R is the best place to buy electronics in NYC. But you can also try stores like K-mart on 34th street or Astor place.

Be careful with the Chinatown vendors. Some of the stuff you're getting could be knockoffs.
J&R is probably the best reputable place.

If you are planning to buy expensive electronics, go to Jersey and buy it in one of the enterprise zones which have only 3.5% sales tax. Some are located in Jersey City and North Bergen. My favorite electronics place is B and H, you can have them ship out of state and pay no sales tax only the shipping cost.
