i dont know whether to go to uni or not? i finshed my a-levels last year and started working as a trainee stock broker but hated it. i was considering a degree in money, banking and finance, im pretty indecicive (and extreemly bad at spelling) and dont think i could stick to a degree for 3 years. i know ill just drink it up for 3 years and more than likely fail. so maybee i should get a job. But what? i dont like sales, im good at maths and i want a career that offers job satisfaction and a decent wage. (just been offered a job as a trainee site engineer for 12k a year! good luck)
really havent got a clue what to do. is uni worth it? or what job should i get?

Studying is always a good thing - the more you know, the more choice you have in life - so what if you don't finish the degree - everything is experience - do whatever you think you'll enjoy

I think you should go to Uni. You're obviously smart enough, and despite what most graduates would have you believe, it actually doesn't take ALL that much work to get a degree and it will always look better to a prospective employer. The other thing to consider is that you don't know what you want to do - a degree will give you a few more years to come to a decision, and if you reckon you're going to "drink it up" for the next couple of years anyway, do it while you can rather than once you have a job in which case you could give yourself a bad reputation (and a bad reference). Go and have some fun and alcohol at uni, do all the stupid stuff now then settle down a little in a couple of years and get yourself a decent career.

Definitely go to Uni - even just for the experience - you meet so many people and have bag loads of fun!!

I suggest if you don't know what to do then study your favourite subject and maybe by the time your degree finishes you may have developed a better inderstanding of what it is that you like doing and want to do. Nobody else can tell you this - you are going to have to work it out for yourself. And anyway - you don't even have to stick with the same career for your whole life these days - many people change career, even 2 or 3 times!!!

Engineering could be an option - as you say - or maybe pure maths? I suspect if you want job satisfaction you won't find it in the financial world!

i think you should take the trainee site engineer job and see how it goes. Try it out for a year at least and get some money (we all have to start somewhere!). You can always go to uni next year instead - plus that way you'll have plenty of drinking money! :p

It really depends how good you were at school, what subjects were you best at, what exams did you pass, and have you ever done any break work in the commercial field?Did you ever ask yourself that before starting this job?Maybe you should attend night school and improve your spelling before considering anything else!I left school with NO qualifications but trained as precision engineer buyer, made redundant, became a technical telephone clerk, (where I did take Trade qualifications),point of sale display, ending up as a driver for special needs adults, now retired.

How bout Technology.........like a networking engineer.

Cisco exams are the best, and after a month solid study you could pass and pretty much get a job quite soon, plus the wage is decent and for satisfaction there's a whole ladder of Cisco Qualifications from CCNA, CCNP........until the CCIE.

How about accountancy? Now thats good money if you are good at maths. Or get into financial services, you could start at a bank or an insurance company as there are many opportunities such as sales, service, management, you could take mortgage exams or financial planning certificate. I think Accountancy is your best bet though, you could become a tax senior they get paid alright as well.

Sorry noone can possibly answer this but you. Work out what you want to do then decide whether or not you need to go to Uni or not. Maken up your own mind as nobody else can do that for you.
