The clocks in computers are battery backed. So if your battery is flat then the clock will revert to its default setting.
You will need to change the battery.
Be careful though as your BIOS may be of the type where the info is also backed up by the battery and changing the battery with the power off will result in you having to set it back up. They usually run fine with the default settings though, unless you have upgraded. You can change the battery with the power on but be careful.

Everytime you turn the system off, it keeps time in the CMOS clock, with the power of (usually), a 2032 battery.

They sell 2 for $3 at Wally World and fine grocery stores, everywhere.

And, then, you can set many different options in the CMOS Setup, after you set the new time, also. Even make sure that the PNP OS is set for NO. http://pclinuxos.com for 1900 free games and toys, including a very big analog clock screensaver.

It seems your computer's battery- located on motherboard which keeps information saved even after computer shut down, is no more working.

It looks like a quarter coin, you may need to replace it.

Or if your computer was not started by a long time, it could happen so observe if the battery starts working again....

The date which appears is default bios date.

Your CMOS battery is dead. You can get one at any computer shop for around 2 bucks!

Hope that helps!
