I have connected my notebook PC to my TV using an S-VHS lead. This way, I can use it to play DVDs and see them on my TV screen. However, when I try to play media files using Windows Media Player or Real Player, I get sound and no picture. Any suggestions?

You simply need the correct codecs (COmpressors and DECompressors) installed to play the files.

The one I use is called K-Lite Codec Pack, and is free.

You can download it from here: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm
