takes place in france.girl falls for solider,he promises to marry after he returns from duty. she buys wedding dress, he never shows, shes pregnant, abords baby in bath tub. her goal becomes to find him and make him pay. the movie ends with both in a prison in france in front of a firring squad , saw this movie on t.v. maybe 20 years ago.

It sounds similar to the plot of Sidney Sheldon's The Other Side of Midnight. A movie was produced based on the Other Side of Midnight in 1977, but it wasn't exactly a blockbuster. Here's the Wikipedia link...
