OMG no that is not stupid it is very fun-nay. We all have tongue tied slips like this and then we laugh. Yours was especially funny and everyone should have had a good laugh. We are with you girl.

Don't kick yourself over that. Every server has done it at some point. The family was probably amused, not laughing at you. I would have just given a short laugh and said "Wouldn't that be an interesting sandwich!" and continued on like nothing had happened.
I'm sure many more far worse things will happen at some time in the course of serving. It just goes with the job. (Wait until you spill a strawberry daiquiri all over a man's pants!!)

lol. sorry I am not laughing at you. It happens to all of us from one time or another. I have done it myself on various occasions. Especially when working in public. It could have been worse. Believe me I have said worse by accident.
While embarrasing at some times, you will see the humor in it at some point in the future. Most likely the family will see it with humor in the future too.

sometimes we say things out loud not thinking, but you need to learn how to cover, you could have quickly come back with "sounds good,i haven't had one in a while"that would have made the people and you feel better, you will learn in time.it's not that big a deal.move on .when i started (42 years ago)i blurted out that a guy was a cheap date,i didn't mean to but i did,i learned from there.good luck

I am asssuming that the PB&J request was due to children at the table? As a patron, I would say you were helping to relax and amuse the children--nothing dumb about that. I overtip any waitress that goes out of their way (even accidently) to make my (children's) experience in their restaurant more pleasurable! :)
