I have a gas stove with 4 burners, but everytime I light one of them, it continues to tick. How do it get it to stop? The ticking is supposed to stop when it lights, but this one just goes on and on and drives me crazy.
PLEASE HELP

when you turn it down to low after ignition does it still tick? does this happen on each burner? you need to replace the ignition switch. when one lights the ignition turning it back to high or low should upen the ignition circuit which ends ignition. have a gas appliance repairman do the work if you are not comfortable with this. rememeber safety first.

You have to turn the knob to a temperature (i.e. High, Medium, Low) in order for it to stop ticking. If it does not stop ticking then you need to call the maintenance person if in an apartment or your gas company because you could have a gas leak and cause a fire in your home. While the stove is ticking it is still leaking gas into the air.

The igniter is stuck, or just on. If it's a button, push it to see if it's caught. If it's a knob, try turning it down. You can reset the circuit breaker for it, if you can find the right one.

Call your local Gas Company and see what they say! There might even be a simple adjustment that they'll do for free!

This happens to mine sometimes, I dont know what causes it, though it may need a new ignition switch.
