If you are asking why cars are called "cars" it is because it is an abbreviation of the term"horseless carraige " which is what cars were originally known as.

That is the same way taxis got there name.... it is an abreviation of Taxable Cabriole

Because in our prehistoric days we named it that way. Only the earlier models had no floors and you used your feet to stop it and to run and start it again. Like in the Flintstones. ha ha. Have a nice day.
