Yes they do. Years ago, when some people considered the boards as toys, my twin brothers borrowed one from their friend. They were 6 years old at the time and the board spelled out words that they couldn't possibly have known at that age. Guess who ended up with the haunted bedroom ? Me ! The board definitely conjured up something evil. It also gave silly and some really nasty answers. The glass also flew off the board, which was one of my mother's best ones, so the twins certainly didn't make that happen !

The most likely scientific explanation is that one of the people involved is moving the planchette. There is no way to apply a scientific explanation and still accept that there is something "supernatural" about the Ouija board; the two perspectives are mutually exclusive.

There's TONS of superstition around this stuff, but why should you believe it? The Ouija board that you can buy in the store is made by Milton Bradley. I'm pretty sure they don't have a separate occult factory where psychics and mystics make them. You could get just as much insight by moving a shot glass across a Monopoly board.

Ouija boards do not "contact the spirit world". They are not "evil". They do not "open a doorway". That's all part of the Ouija Board's Mythos.

Ouija Boards work based on the imperceptible muscular movements of those touching the planchet -- the thing that indicates letters.

Penn and Teller on their Showtime Show, "Bullsh*t" (with the letter I) fully and soundly debunked Ouija boards.

They had a group of people use a Ouija board normally. The planchet indicated words, apparently answered questions, etc. None of the participants said they were moving the planchet. All very typical of using a Ouija board.

They then blindfolded the group and, without telling the group, rotated the Ouija board 180 degrees. The board didn't function as it did when the group was not blindfolded. For example, when a Yes/No question was asked, the planchet indicated the spots that "Yes" or "No" had been before the board was rotated. Neither did any words get accurately spelled out by the planchet.

Obviously, either spirits are completely blind or the Ouija board opperates based on the imperceptible muscular actions of the participants.

The unconscious mind's a pretty powerful tool, capable of all kinds of crazy things if given half a chance: psychokinesis, self-hypnosis, telepathy. The Ouija board (like the pounding drums in many Voudoun religions, the drugs employed by shamans or the ceremonies and mantras so carefully followed in witchcraft) is simply a way of shutting off the conscious mind, possibly by inducing a slightly dream-like state, and focusing the unconscious mind. The 'demons' or 'ghosts' the board is supposed to conjure up could be little more than manifestations of psychic energy.

I have used them before many years ago... I've never had a problem using them, and only used them with trusted friends who i know wouldnt move it on purpose.. I believe it is very real, but u need to do it correctly, otherwise things may happen that could potentially be unpleasant.. Make sure u know what ur doing before even attempting to do anything at all... trust me, u will want to do it again if u do it right ;)

You are not going to find any scientific evidence to support how they work, or even if they work.
However, I don't feel this is a safe way to try and contact the dead. If someone has passed and you wish to communicate with them, just speak to them as if they are present.

Ouija boards measure your subconscious responses. In other words, you are answering your own questions. They are not supernatural at all, but many people who are interested in supernaturalism want to believe that they are tools for contacting spirits, aliens, demons, or whatever. Just like walking thru a graveyard at night, the "kick" you get out of a Ouija board depends entirely on what superstitions you bring with you.

Ouija is "yes" in French and German, by the way. Its just a game.

Its is extremely Dangerous Its similar to welcoming in a group of strangers. Ouiji boards are like a game of russian roulette. Be careful because it opens a door that most individuals can not shut. It can cause extreme cases of possession and poltergeists.
The spirits use you and your companiaon as energy conduits. they absorb your energy for strength to move the planchette. I have lived in two houses where ouiji boards had been used in the past and theses houses had become a psychic hell. As the spirits you welcome in to your home will comtinue to use your energy and the energy of all of the poor souls that live with you. Sincerely Benjamin Barnes email moehog21@yahoo.com
