I would rather make a smaller one, but my family really likes the bigger ones! They win! I bought a 22 pound turkey for Thanksgiving.

The bigger the better! We usually get at least a 20 lb turkey. This year I got a 26 lb one. Yay turkey day!

A tip to keep your turkey from being dry...I ALWAYS use those turkey oven bags, and they always turn out perfect and super juicy.

Smaller isn't always better as you end up with more bones than meat. I think anything between 17-23 pounds is good...but that's just my opinion! hehe! My turkey is usually around 22 lbs.

Often times a big turkey ends up dry because it is denser and takes much longer to cook. So the breast dries out while the thigh is still cooking.

Only as big as necessary to have some leftovers after everyone eats.

The smaller ones are better. Less gamey taste too them. I cook 2 to 3 smaller birds. Meat is better
