i quite agree this country is the big brother capital of the world especially London, that is a fact. But Britain was also the first in the industrial revolution with the rest of the world following close behind. So eventually every state will be the same as Britain unless we make a real stand and oppose the agenda to lessen our liberties and rights. David Cameron has already make it clear that he wants to change the constitution and erode our liberties to increase security. They blame it on the Muslims, and the youth and crime etc. They r all excuses to frighten us into submission.

I totally understand where you're coming from but I lived in Spain for a while. You are basically an immigrant. Yes there are little british resorts everwhere but generally the spanish don't want you there ... and why should they, it's their country and we all know how that feels!!.
Great Britain is a fantastic country but it's run by mindless idiots. We should stop being "bend over Britain" and start standing up for what we want. But of course that never happens because were all too spineless to do anything about it. Anyway, rant over, great question by the way.

Personally, am undecided but giving it serious thought.
I love this country and think the people and culture is the best in the world, but am getting to the point of dispair when you see what this government is doing to it and our values being eroded away.
The bottom line is that until we get some real and strong leadership (and no, I dont think any of the current crop are up to it) then things are only going to continue going downhill which is a shame.

If you're thinking of leaving then the sooner the better.
I'm not saying that your vision will come true but if it does and the attempted mass exodus begins it will become progressively more difficult to get out and be accepted anywhere else (outside Europe at least, and that won't last forever either).
I don't think we've gone "To hell in a handcart"(Copyright Richard Littlejohn every week) just yet, but we're getting there.
Time to dig out the Berlitz language course and get practising n'est pas?

I hear what you say. Why are we Brits so ready to capitulate to this Government? Why should we up and leave our homes, lives we have built up? Are we not going to give them a fight? People power,if used correctly, can change many things, including this Government!! If not heard the first time, shout louder, and keep shouting, till we are heard! We as a country have become far too complacent, and are allowing them to walk all over us,it really is time to find our backbone!!!

Already in the process of nicking off. My wife has been on at me to up sticks and take us off to Oz and over the last couple of years i've come round to her way of thinking.
I wrote a list of pros and cons to leaving and gave up when i realised there's so much a dislike about my own country now, not least of which is being taxed out of existence and having politically correct nonsense shoved down my throat 24/7.
It's a sad state of affairs when British people no longer feel they can belong to their own country nor that it belongs to them.

note... alot of people all ready are. but it is the people who have equity in their houses in the UK doing it. those without equity are too scared to move. it's not easy making it in a foreign country, where you may not speak the language and haven't got a valuable skill to sell, so only the die hard really go for it.
you also have to remember that many countries outside of the UK run a police state of sorts anyway. eg. in france you are guilty unless you can prove your innocence, and gendarms have alot of power and are only too happy to flex it if you give them chance.
whilst blair may bring in these laws, it is really up to the people who enforce them... and my take on the british law, is that the people who are implementing it usually have a fair sense of justice, unless they have really bought the whole propaganda cr**.
get the police in a frenzy about plots and conspirisies against govt and public, and then you are in trouble... otherwise i think they are best police force in europe, if not the world for the common citizen. perhaps it is the secret police services in the UK to be worried about? i don't know.

Sure! Come on over to sunny Florida. We would love to have you here, we have many friends from the UK who live here in my town.
but, I have to say I feel bad that so many of your people are abandoning your native lands,
who will you be leaving it to and how will it ever get better if you all take off?
