My baby just got over an ear infection, but still has fluid in his ear. My Dr doesn't treat it here (In germany), and said the fluid should clear within 6 weeks. It has been about 3 weeks now, and it still seems to bother him. Are there any at home remedies that I can try to help?

Take a cotton ball and put some rubbing alcohol on it. Drip two small drops into the ear canal (Pull the ear up and back to ensure that it goes into the ear). As the alcohol evaporates, it'll help wick off some of the fluid.

Be careful with the hairdryer routine. Babies are extremely sensitive to heat and wind. Their skin is easily burned, even with a hairdryer on low.

Treat it like swimmers ear.. take a hair dryer and use the gentle warm air over his ear for a minute or 2 a couple times a day that might help dry it out faster. But wait the full 6 weeks like the doctor said unless you feel the baby is in real pain.

well this answer depends on how old your baby is. im going thru the same thing with my daughter who is 15 months old. i brought her to see an EENT (ears eyes nose throat) doctor and he said that the fluid could stay in her ears for up to 3 months. he told me to give her some decongestant because sometimes that helps clear the ears out. also, when i put my baby to bed i prop her up on a pillow, not sitting straight up but slanted which helps. if your baby is older than 6 months, you could try giving him some decongestant, like infant sudafed or benadryl.
