i take it you have a steam boiler and not a hot water boiler,, this can be one of 2 things,, 1. usually steam systems ping as the pipes heat up and expand, there is not much you can do for this problem due the the way it was piped,, not enough expansion joints installed to eliminate this problem,, 2. now water hammer is another problem,, this is caused by pipes sagging over time and possible return lines not letting the condensate back to boiler fast enough . as the steam hits the condensate, it will flash some of the water to steam and push the rest till it comes to a bend in the pipe and slams the water into the elbow, this water can be traveling well over 30 MPH and when it hits the elbow can even make pipes move... have a service tech look at your system if it is the latter,, Oh, and by the way,, you don't bleed air from steam systems manually,, ,, this is done at the end of the main steam lines and at each radiator by automatic vents..only hot water boilers do you do that manually ,,,good luck to you and hope this helps..
Oh forgot to say,, if this is a steam boiler, you do not have to vent air from it,, you only do that on a hot water boiler.. On a steam boiler, if it is a one pipe system will have a vent on opposite side of steam entering radiator about 1/3 of the way up... look like a little rocket ship,, if it is a two pipe, it will have a steam trap on opposite side,, both are automatic and you have to do nothing to them......

If your system is less than 40 years old, there are small "bleeders"where the water comes into radiator. Press the center of the bleeder with a small nail to "bleed off" the air. Keep a cloth under the "bleeder valve" as some water will come out with the air.
