I have been offered a job for Saudi Riyal 8,600 in Jeddah. I am single right now, but plan to get married by Dec 2007. I am a US citizen and have 3 years of prior experience in the field in which I am being currently offered.

Should I accept? I will appreciate all the help I can get! Thanks :)

No.

What are you crazy? That's not nearly enough money.

8.6k Riyal is US$27,520/year. Even with no taxation, that's a crap salary to move to Jeddah. Cost of living is high and you don't even have the fun things to do like you do in Riyahd. You say you are American? Man, if you really do have three years of experience in your field - you should be able to make that with your eyes closed in the US.

Hmmm... this question seems very similar to a question asked by "Jammy", who was Bangladeshi (not American), who also had three years of experience, who also was offered 9k to work in Saudi, who also had poor English, which I answered here:

Do read the terms and conditions of your contract carefully before you sign your name on the dotted line. What's the incentives for you? Will you be provided lodging, medical benefits etc? Is the job a contract or full-time position? Also, what's the duration of your granted leave? You might need to travel to US during the festive period. Will the prospective employer allow that? Don't forget to consider the fact that the working culture in another country is quite different from your present work culture. I do know that some countries expect their employees to clock in at least 10 to 12 hours a day and that's just barely meeting the company's expectations. Make sure you have a copy of the job scope/description mailed to you before you decide to take up the job offer. The only perk I foresee you earning is a boost in your credentials because of your overseas working experience.

Depends on a number of factors:
Is that pay rate OK for what you are being asked to do ?
Do you have a proper contract and terms and conditions ?

I am not sure what your marital status and plans have to do with accepting the job, except to check that your betrothed is Ok with you working abroad.
