Heavy? It is lighter than air. However,it will kill you because it binds irreversibly with the hemoglobin in your blood resulting in asphyxia.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a very poisonous gas that can kill a human in a very short period of time. By heavy you mean dense, then carbon monoxide is not a heavy gas.

Carbon Dioxide ( CO2 that's 44g in line with mole) is heavier than air, that's specifically a mixture of Oxygen and Nitrogen ( 32g and 28g in line with mole respectively ). Carbon Monoxide is lighter basically 28g in line with mole. Carbon Monoxide is so risky because of this certainty, through fact whilst inhaled it is going to "sneak" previous the oxygen and your lungs will take up the CO subsequently no longer getting oxygen and your physique dies.

actually usually carbon dioxide is not a heavy gas is CO2 and carbon monoxide is CO it is even lighter so it isnt a heavy gas. just for your info it is poisonous?

C=12, O=16, so the atomic weight of CO is 28
O2 = 32
CO2 = 44

So if you put all three in a closed container, they would stratify with CO on the top, O2 in the middle, and CO2 on the bottom.

However, most people consider CO as inert, it is only partially burned C, and therefore, if you introduced fire into the above closed container, it will almost fill up with CO2

air is mainly nitrogen(atomic mass 14) where as carbon monoxide is atomic mass 28 which makes it heavier than air so it won't float. Unless the room is already full CO2 (atomic mass 46) which is heavier which will allow it to float.

no it is lighter than air so it will always fill a room from the top down
