I was considering getting a couple of colored/striped long sleeve shirts with white collar and cuffs, but my wife says "that's so 1980s." What say you? Ten points to the best-reasoned answer, and majority opinion determines whether I buy the shirts or not. Thanks!

I agree with your wife. But to be honest, I think you should wear them if YOU like them. You're a grown a** man. Shirts will not make you any better or worse. If you don't buy the shirts, that will mean that others are determining the quality of your life and that's not cool. Get the shirts and enjoy them. I'm sure your wife won't leave you. Actually, the 80's were pretty cool...

I'm definitely not the right person to be answering this because I'm SO not into the "fashion scene". I believe that the only thing that should determine whether you wear something or not is if YOU like it. (Well, that and it's appropriate for the environment -- no ripped jeans and tank tops in an office job, KWIM?)

So - if you like the shirts, who cares if they're "so 1980's". If you like them - get them and be proud. (Even better if you ARE a child of the 80's :D Then you're just being retro and reliving your childhood. Gives you a fall back excuse. *grins*)

Besides.....walking through the malls, it looks like most 80's styles are coming back in again. I just can't wait for the "big mall hair" to come back as well. *sarcasm*

Rock on.

I think the white collar and cuffs would look good with the long striped shirts. Although if you get a light light color shirt then it will look weird with the white cuffs. But over all it should look good together, and what the heck..1980's? i think not.

good luck.

it relatively is not stupid, however the spectacular shirt is the significant ingredient. I had a shirt with too vast of a collar. Collar makes a huge distinction, because it is going to stay in and be a stable length. Sweater too, besides the undeniable fact that it relatively is not too vast of a deal.
