Good for you for noticing and for posing this question. I agree...I think it's a combination of things....I think some people think that by giving a mean spirited answer it proves that they are better or smarter than the one asking. Also, I think that the younger generations have been raised in a culture that is pretty much morally bankrupt. How did we get to the point where it is commonplace to read about murders and abductions etc. and not be outraged and upset by it????? Lastly, I think many people just really suffer from lack of or bad manners....I applaud you for wanting this to change....Have a great day!

I don't really know the real reason why people do this because the answer is only known to them & them alone but I think they answer in a harsh manner because they call themselves trying to lighten up the situation (escaping from the reality of the situation) or they're trying to be a clown purposely so they won't reveal that they are a real person beyond the computer, or they're really annoyingly, mean people. Some people gain from other people's unhappiness. I think sometimes these people like when people give them but when they really need the information, they feel like we feel. I think these people would respond in harsh language.
I'm glad you bought this question up, I get this all the time from people like this but the best thing to do is read their answer and ignore it as long as your question is posted.

Some people feel inferior & they have to put others down so that they can appear superior. A truly confident person doesn't have to insult others to inflate their sense of self-worth. Cruel people, bullies are really just cowards inside who try to hide their fears by being aggressive & attacking someone vulnerable. I wish I'd realized this when I was a kid & got picked on. I wish I had stood up for myself.
I am incapable of being deliberately cruel. I would never hurt a vulnerable person. I am vengeful however. If someone hurts me or someone I care about, I will defend myself/them. I will stand up for what I think is right.
Cruelty is the one unforgivable thing in this world. Unfortunately it's very common. A lot of mean-spirited heartless folks out there. But don't lose faith. There are still sensitive, good people out there too!
:)
Cheers.

That is one big problem in society. Most people want what other people have. There is no easy solution, as the cut and thrust of the business and commercial world depends on there being winners and losers. To quote Dylan Thomas, 'Life is terrible....Thank God', but its still a pity people can't learn to be more considerate to each other.

Some people like to "talk ugly" when they can not be identified. I remember when the CB radio thing was big in our country back in the 60's and 70's. Many people liked to talk ugly and be mean on the C B radio.
Why? I guess I will never know. I would not talk ugly to anybody. Perhaps, it is rooted in "man's basic sinful nature."

i think people are cruel because they are not in control of their own life. they are controlled by things outside of themselves.
its a pity they have lost the dignity of their own and others lives.
i think they need help to find love instead of hate inside themselves.

The truth is not all smiley faces. And we get sick of hearing platitude after platitude. There's mostly no way to teach someone the rule without recourse to pain. (This is the whole point of excluding absurdity in logic...) You're getting it wrong, philosophy wrong. It's not interesting-- that's all we're saying.
Now, shut up, please.
TYVM!! :D
