Oh my god, as an avid thespian and lover of musicals I always like to go and experience new things. Yesterday I saw Wicked at the Apollo in London, I got goosebumps that many times and by the end of the first half I was already crying, not at the plot, I was in total ore and wonder of this theatrical master piece. AND could only compare Idina Mendels voice to Barbra Streisand's not in similarity but in quality and magnificence. I am still on a high. Would love to see what other people thought, escpecially those who are not regular musical goers like me !

I know EXACTLY what you mean!! I've seen Idina Menzel on Broadway 3 times and each and everytime she was AMAZING!! her singing is just...unbelivably amazing. Although, I am quite partial to Eden Espinosa! She's a pretty amazing singer as well!! You should check her out! I've seen her on Broadway as well.

No, Idina left Wicked January 9, 2005. At least 30something women have played/are playing Elphaba since then. Current Elphabas: San Francisco- Teal Wicks Broadway- Nicole Parker Tour- Donna Vivino Melbourne- Amanda Harrison Stuttgart- Willemijn Verkaik London- Kerry Ellis Tokyo- Megumi Hamada

With regards to Idina Menzel, I agree whole heartedly. I have enjoyed her performances since RENT and I know there is more to come as far as her career goes. I hope to see her more in film in the future so she might have a broader audience. Sadly I was not quite as enamored with Wicked as you were. Don't get me wrong, it was a marvelous production, but I had made the mistake of reading the novel first. Wicked was by far Gregory Maguires best book, and although he collaborated on the stage story, there were so many changes that I was a little bit hung up by them. Plot points pushed aside, it was an incredible production and the music was great.
