Tell him to continue with his studies because picking up every bit of extra knowledge will help him act better. Many actors do thorough research about their characters, background information and general facts before immersing themselves into their roles. Remind him that acting isn't determined by looks alone. Powerful acting requires confidence. He could improve on his confidence level if his looks are coupled with intelligence. And don't forget, there's always paper qualifications to fall back on in case his acting career doesn't launch successfully.

Acting is a hit or miss profession. Some years you eat and some years you better have a good savings account or your not!
Most professional actors have degrees nowadays. That is because only 1% really make the big money, the rest are getting minimum to average pay checks. I know Harrison Ford is a carpenter by trade, Tom Sellect has a college degree.. they weren't stupid they knew if they didn't do well they could still provide for themselves and their family.
Tell him best to finish school and get a job at one of the studios, office work, prop dept., etc start working your way into the system unless you know someone its hard to get an agent, let alone a screen test and that first job.

We have to be very careful when advising our friends. Life is different for everyone and what is the wisest way for us is not always the best for them. Just imagine someone telling Ronaldinho or Beckman not to play soccer but follow a career instead. Even moder psychology has found that there are more than 39 types of intelligence, academic abilities are just one way of getting successful. Be a real friend a support him, tell him that he should explore that path and if not what he likes, he could any time resume his studies.

If he's paying for his own schooling than fine, let him try his hand at acting, sigh..."we all want to be Hollywood stars", if he's not paying for it than he is obligated to finish his studies first, it amazes me how many people are so impulsive and jump at ideals when if that's what he wanted in the first place he would have been taking it in the first place. sigh.
