In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Lets see...ghosts cant hurt you, so they are automatically dismissed as frightening.
The bible teaches us that God destroyed the earth by flood, leveled cities because people were partying too hard, forced the Jews to wander for generations in the desert for a minor rule infraction, Denied Moses entry into the promised land because Moses aided thirsty people, permited his own son to be tortured to death...on and on.
Satan. What has he done? The bible speaks of Job's torment, but this occurred only after God gave Satan permission, to appease God's curiousity about job's faithfulness to him. And Satan offered knowledge to Eve. So does every school teacher I have heard of.
Seem that Satan has been getting a bad rap. But then, history is always written by the victors, not the vanquished.

Well, ghosts can not harm you if they even exist. God is a loving God and you will not feel his wrath unless you do something to deserve it. God does not bring harm into the world, Satan does. Satan talked to Eve in the garden, but look what happened, he caused disobedience to their maker. If you think God is scary, take a look at His beautiful creations. Think about the times you have been blessed in your lives. Look at your beautiful children. Where do you think they came from? God is not scary at all. Satan is the one destroying this world because we are allowing him to. That sounds pretty scary to me, along with the fact that he has the key to the gates of hell, not God.

if you think that god kicked us out of Eden just because eve ate an apple, it gives you an idea of his idea of forgiveness, and he sure can hold a grudge....
satan is allright, and i kinda think he has had a rough deal, to say that he is all evil is not realistic, neither is it right to say God is all good, look at the flood, what was that all about?? a bit drastic if you want my opinion.
ghosts, i dont know, i dont think they are in the same league.... their power is more limited
so god is definitely the one to look at for, he has a lot to answer for, and sugar coating it in religious reverence is taking the mickey, if you take my meaning
