Just asking after the indefensible treatment by police, who themselves thought it ridiculous, of nurse Peter Murray in Whitehall on the day of The Queen's Speech to Parliament. Perhaps I could be stopped and searched for just thinking that he is a useless twerp!

It could get worse, you know - there is legislation before Parliament that really will open the way for the thought police!

Blair himself seems oblivious to irony - probably had his head up Bush's **** for so long! I remember at one conference him saying to a heckler "Just be grateful you are living in a country where you are free to express your opinion!" and he was saying this AS the goons were arm-locking the guy and bustling him out!

You are NOT safe unless there are no HIDDEN provisions.

George Walker Bush's presidency is a chicanery and so are his "national interest and security" laws. He is an abomination and only someone like Barry Goldwater would had created excellent laws. Dubya is a flip-flop on religion since he's changed his faith three times and is not man enough to admit mistakes. Barry Goldwater was a Conservative Libertarian that loved the US Constitution. Also Goldwater was a 4 star general in the USAF while Dubya was an irresponsible 2nd lieutenant that had no courage to go to war. A true warhawk goes to war,but a chickenhawk(e.g. Dubya) sends others to die. If the NeoCons believed in Operation Iraqi Freedom why not let their children go to fight. General H. Norman Schwarzkopf knows about dying for the right reasons.

Power to stop and search
Authorisations. 44. - (1) An authorisation under this subsection authorises any constable in uniform to stop a vehicle in an area or at a place specified in the authorisation and to search-

(a) the vehicle;

(b) the driver of the vehicle;

(c) a passenger in the vehicle;

(d) anything in or on the vehicle or carried by the driver or a passenger.

(2) An authorisation under this subsection authorises any constable in uniform to stop a pedestrian in an area or at a place specified in the authorisation and to search-

(a) the pedestrian;

(b) anything carried by him.

(3) An authorisation under subsection (1) or (2) may be given only if the person giving it considers it expedient for the prevention of acts of terrorism.

(4) An authorisation may be given-

(a) where the specified area or place is the whole or part of a police area outside Northern Ireland other than one mentioned in paragraph (b) or (c), by a police officer for the area who is of at least the rank of assistant chief constable;

(b) where the specified area or place is the whole or part of the metropolitan police district, by a police officer for the district who is of at least the rank of commander of the metropolitan police;

(c) where the specified area or place is the whole or part of the City of London, by a police officer for the City who is of at least the rank of commander in the City of London police force;

(d) where the specified area or place is the whole or part of Northern Ireland, by a member of the Royal Ulster Constabulary who is of at least the rank of assistant chief constable.

So you should be quite safe in THEORY though the UK police have shown just how much difference there is between that and on the spot interpretation. Speech cannot be stopped and searched.

Didnt he go on a school visit somewhere klast year where all the pupils Boo'd him? His cronies and spin doctors insisted that they were in fact shouting 'BOON' as some kind of modern slang term of approval.

So maybe you could Boo Tony Blair and then in your defence claim to have Booned him.

you would be very welcome in the democratic party here. i think they actively look for attention getters. the tax and spend thing seems to be stalling and perhaps if people shake their heads in disbelief some might join out of non conformity.
