I'm driving a Hyundai Excel 1500cc at the moment, and if I'm not mistaken, it should be sth about 66-70kW..

Is there any way to tune it up for a bit so that it gives a greater power on the road? And if so, how much would it cost generally in Melbourne Victoria?

(yes, ur right. I'm a newbie :P)
Thanks for answering ~

Remove and shave the head for more compression. Use a burette to ensure that all the combustion chambers have the same volume. Remove pistons and conrods and weigh them. Make sure they are all the same weight. Bore out the block to increase engine capacity. Get a mild or wild camshaft with more overlap and greater valve opening. You might have to get special pistons. Mill out the valve openings to increase gas flow and while you are at it polish the intake and exhaust passages. Get a specially tuned exhaust manifold and throw the catalytic converter away. Replace the silencers with a straight through one and increase the diameter of the exhaust pipes.

Replace the ECU chip with a hotter one. Get a bigger radiator and remove the mechanical fan, replace it and any existing electric fan with two or more electric fans. You will probably need to get a bigger or higher rated alternator. Install an oil cooler. Install a transmission oil cooler if you have a slushbox. Install a supercharger or a turbocharger, either having intercooling. Bigger brakes. Stiffer suspension. Roll cage. Four-point safety harness. Seam welding. Is a Hyundai Excel worth it?

A tune up should include new plugs so rememmber to do that but if you are looking for more power from the engine... a tune-up is not going to do that for you. Maybe you need perfomance parts?
You can purchase a hotter coil and get bigger wires to help spark ignite the gas more completely. Also get a bigger intake and put more air through your engine. That will definitely increase power! These are easy bolt on items and usually the quickest way to get more power from any engine.
Where to find these parts? You should search online but also ask your manufacturer's car dealer if they know where to get the correct parts for your application! Hope that helps mate! G-Day!

Keeping a vechicle in tune will for sure give better performance and gpm. In US dollars i would say $50.00 to $78.00, depending on what all you include in your tune up.If you do the work , a little cheaper. Have a fun day.
