Have just encountered a large wasp walking along my kitchen worktop. Don't remember seeing one this late in the year before.

Blame global warming! I find this happens a lot around late September as a rule but the weather has been mild recently and wasps have stayed around longer this year. As it gets cooler they look for somewhere warm and it's usually my kitchen.

Yeah funny that all these sitings are only being mentioned now, 2 years later. I wouldn't mind but half of the eye witness accounts are from direct friends of the McCanns. The story is getting more and more obscure.

For the winter month, wasps surround their homes & all work together to keep each other from freezing, so on warmer days, some will wonder out & ack all dumb from being in hiberation

Very odd. I can only guess you have a nest somewhere, but even then I wouldn't have thought it would be active.

Did you tell the wasp what time of year it is?

If it's about 5 foot tall it might be a squatter disguised as a wasp!

We have that problem, too. It should be too cold for them to be active now, but if their nest is in the house... why, they are warm and toasty, and ready to irritate the soup out of you. In our situation, the nests were inside the walls. The solution: bug bombs. We use Hot Shot foggers; they have been effective for us. Hope they work for you, too.

They are going into their dormant stage, it probably looked drunk. lol. Be careful, though, this time of year they are extremely aggressive. I hope you got rid of it and don't see any more!
