Get your breathing right. Practise breath control by filling up your lungs deeply (from the bottom up), then holding your breath for a second or so, then letting it out slowly on a "ssss" sound between your teeth. Time yourself to see if you can build up the length of time that you can sustain the breath for - if you can get to a minute you are doing really well! But 30 seconds is usually pretty good. Do it every day to strengthen your lungs and breath control muscles.
Good breath control is key to long phrases and making a big, well supported sound.
Don't warm up too much before your performance - sounds crazy but it is possible the tire your voice out from doing too many exercises and practice runs so that you don't sing your best when you actually go out there. Just do some breathing, a few scales or a quick run through of one or two of your songs. Humming is a really good way to warm up without stressing your voice out, and it helpes you work your head voice too. Hum your way through one of your songs (on an "mm" or an "unnggg" - the "unnggg" is better - its the same sound as the word "sung" but without the "s" and the "nng" bit should resonate in your "mask" and nasal cavity area) concentrating on getting a really good resonance going in your nasal cavity area, then change the hum to an "aaa". You'll be surprised at what a bright sound comes out!
Sipping glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon juice also clears and readies your throat for singing.

If you stay sober, bear in mind you'll sound better anyway because other people might be under the influence! -Make sure you use your WHOLE mouth to make the words sound clear. Don't mumble through tight lips. Practice making 'oooh' sounds and 'aaah' sounds and 'eeee' sounds into a mirror. See what your mouth wants to do instinctively. -Practice, Practice, Practice before the event so you'll know the song inside out. Don't get cocky though- you're nerves might throw you a bit so always keep an eye on the screen. Karaoke tracks might even be written differently to the original! -Have fun, and don't take yourself too seriously. People who take themselves seriously at karaoke are never liked as much as people who know they aren't as good, but put in an effort to try their best. It's a case of the underdog winning every time.

Stand up straight, then onto tiptoes - do that now.
Sit down again.
Now imagine you are a puppet, with a string tied to the top of your head. Stand up again, but this time imagine you are being pulled up by the puppeteer - now he pulls you up onto tiptoes.
You are now actually reaching about 1/2 an inch higher than the first time you stood up. Your back is that bit straighter!
When you walk onto the stage, imagine that string and the puppeteer pulling you up. it will straighten your back and give your lungs and diaphragm more chance to take the deep breaths you need.

Make sure the band soundchecks. That's about all you should do the night of.... you run the risk of throwing your voice if you do much more. The soundcheck accomplishes the most important thing: it lets the sound guy set the levels, and it gets the band thinking and grooving together.
The rehearsals are done. The night of shouldn't need more than the quick warm up a soundcheck offers.

you can work your way up the scale starting low and ending high. you can arpeggio you can go fast and slow to get your enunciation and breathing fine tuned. other than that warm water and not overstressing your voice helps. Have fun on your first gig!

When the singing teacher warms us up he makes us say mommy made mush my mnm's just like do re mi but the mommy thing and just keep getting higher pitched as you go.
