To see the devil in your dream, signifies negative aspects of yourself. It may also indicate feelings of guilt that you have been harboring. It is time to release these feelings. Alternatively, the devil may represent intelligence, cunningness, deception, and cleverness.
To dream that you fought off the devil, symbolizes that you will succeed in defeating your enemies.

Jeeze louise, you people with your put-down answers. Pay them no heed. "Look in the mirror." What a jerk.
Anyway, most dreams reflect what you're currently concerned about or interested in. However it it was a sincere dream that you're worried about. You gotta ask yourself; was s/he laughing at you or just laughing? and; what did s/he look like? Was the devil red and scaly with a horns, a pointed tail, bottom half looked like the rear end of a goat, and he had a hay fork and surrounded by fire? Or was it, say, a sharply dress man or woman? If you said, the red goat man, then you probably (no offense) don't really have a good concept of what the devil is like and how he works. In which case, the chances of a prophetic visionary dream being sent to you are slim, meaning that dream was nothing more than figment or your unconscious imagination.
...But if you do have a good grasp on Satan and you're in fear of your immortal soul then definately, by all means, seek out that which would cause him to laugh and cast it from you and turn to God with your whole heart. I suggest doing that anyway, however.

'Cause though he wanted you to be one like him, you proved to be too inferior to be a devil. Anyway, how can an angel ever become a devil? On finding your inferiority, Devil was laughing at you. Isn't it great?

Because he observed our thougts and saw that you were walking right into his hands all the time. He was laughing at the fact that if you don't "change the way you think and see yourself", you would play right into his hands until death.
Life is "shallow" for those that don't seek wisdom, and "sad" for those that have truly found it.
