That is a question that only you can answer for youself. My reasons for marriage my not being 'enough' for you, while others reasons might be. Marriage is, despite what others say, different for everyone. Everyone goes into marriage for a different reason. Reasons vary from love, money, arranged, being they can, to because they have to. However, my reason to marry was because I loved/still do my husband very much and I wanted to express it with something greater than boyfriend/girlfriend status. We were ready for the commitment and the responsibilities, which there are many of them. We wanted to have a real family, not that non-married people or single people can't have one.

Marriage is a unit of Society.The stable it is,the society becomes strong.Children are taken care of,women have legal rights over husband's property and men have an assured place of shelter and emotional support and companionship.Elders are taken care of.They are a family.

Have a stable home for the children and the couple. Goals of the couple is legally tied together. Be sure before getting hitched! It could feel like driving a car with 3 wheels.

It is for whatever you want it to be for. You determine that for yourself. For some, marriage is for: financial security; to have children and a family; love; companionship; social status; a steady sex partner; physical protection; etc.

It's a business contract. Should be revised to 5 year contract with option for renewal, and default provisions for child maintenance.
