Why does a swimming pool seem to be shalower than it really is?

because the water magnifies the bottom of the pool and makes it look closer than it really is.

it is because of refraction. the light moves slower through the water than thhrough the air, so ti bends slightly at the waters surface. and that bending makes the botom of the pool appear closer than it really is.

becuase objets under water looks 25% larger and closer than they really are is like looking to a rear mirrow on your car
