We've used tidy bowl, the blue tablets you leave in the tank, replaced all the seals, replaced the flush mechanism and checked for leaks in and under the tank.

Do you have any water sitting in the bowl of the toilet? Maybe the tube that goes from the valve in the tank to the over flow is not hooked up, and you aren't getting enough water in the toilet after flushing it to trap the gases that come up from the sewer pipe. If the water that stands in the toilet is not high enough, it won't trap out the gases that come up the sewer pipe. Your sink and bath works the same way. Check all the traps for water standing in them, if there is not, replace the trap (j-pipe) in the sink and/or the tub/shower. If you have done this already, then you need to find the hole in the big pipe that goes to the roof to exhaust the gases out of the house. Make sure it has not gotten stopped up and allowing the gases to get into the house. This is NOT a problem that is hard to resolve, but you will have to find the hole in the exhaust, or run a tape down it to unclog it between the roof and the ground. I hope this has helped. Good Luck!!!

Ok listen up. Remove the toilet from the floor and change the wax ring that separates the toilet from the drain pipe. These wax rings need to be replaced about every 5 or 6 years. You'll find the wax has blown out on one side and part of the material that should be going down the pipe is flushing ito the plywood and underlament around the toilet hole. If you don't do this you'll see the plywood around the toilet will begin to separate and bubble up.
Wax rings will cost around 6 dollars a piece.

Your air vent line that runs off the huge pipe below the bathroom could be plugged. I had a wasp nest in mine. call a plumber, he will run a cord (snake) down the vent from the roof clearing it. except you have a extreme leak someplace this could do it.

sewer gas is coming in somehow, is there a leaky trap in a vanity sink or bathtub, you need to check that out, maybe the vent is plugged or has a crack or leak in it. the smell is probably sewer gas & you really need to find where it is coming from.
