rescently i feel this strong urge to say hi to people who i relate with although they are complete strangers.some like it and some give me tough looks or shy away.
also i like to guess people for their profession and then actually go and ask them to check if i guessed correctly.
is this a malady.i am male married in early fifties.

You're a nice guy and you're in an enthusiastic phase or you're happy about something. Keep it up maybe you'll start a good deed here. Maybe after a while all the people will say hi to each other in India.

It just shows you are friendly and take an interest in people. Some people, women, might think you are trying to pick them up however.

I have a 87 years old uncle with similar urge.I think he does it out of boredom and also with his years of experience he likes to test out his knowledge of studying human behaviour.

I would guess that it's just the need to comunicate!
