They can if you regularly face members of the public. It gives the firm bad name if their employees look scruffy.

how did you appear when you attended interview?
Was any mention made of dress code then?
Is there any reason connected with your work that would make facial hair inappropriate?
My thoughts are that unless you have changed your appearance since interview, or if it were mentioned at interview that facial hair was definitely not allowed, then to insist that you alter your appearance otherwise is an infringement of your personal rights. However, if you are turning up for work looking scruffy and unshaven in an office where there is a high standard of dress code, then perhaps your boss has a point?

hey jamie , i know the feeling that comes to ur mind when ur manager gets into your own buisness.. but don give a **** to what they say and be what u think is prietty on you!!! ... may be you will find a better job by meeting someone at ur current job!!

IF ITS LISTED IN YOUR EMPLOYEE MANUEL THAT YOU SIGNED WHEN YOU GOT HIRED ,YES. I DON'T KNOW WHERE YOU WORK ,BUT WHERE EVER IT IS DRESS THE POSITION AND YOU'LL GET PAYED THE RATE .GOOD LUCK THEY MIGHT JUST BE LOOKING FOR A WAY TO GET RID OF YOU.
