I was asleep for about 7hours (was awake previously for roughly 42hours) and I wake up in the middle of the night "completely" paralyzed... I couldn't move a muscle... Yet I felt myself moving in my dream.

So... Yeah it was quite odd... I kept on trying to wake myself up.. I guess wake myself up "more" (I was fully conscious) and could only move myself in my "dream state".

With one big jerk I was finally able to move and with that new ability I got into a new position and slept again ^_^

I only remembered it now so I happened more than 14 hours ago.
So my question to you people is "what happened?"
Ask for more details if you want, I really want to get tot he bottom of this.

No I wasn't scared just curious.
Oh and I don't believe in the devil... but if I did and I was to get paralyzed everytime I did something bad, hehe I wouldn't be able to move. = D

But yeah I could see around the room and move my eyes.

Sleep paralysis is a condition characterized by temporary paralysis of the body shortly after waking up (known as hypnopompic paralysis) or, less often, shortly before falling asleep (known as hypnagogic paralysis).

The Nightmare, by Henry Fuseli (1781) is thought to be one of the classic depictions of sleep paralysis perceived as a demonic visitation.Physiologically, it is closely related to the normal paralysis that occurs during REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, also known as REM atonia. In that, some scientist and physicians believe it to be a "natural" effect of the sleep cycle. Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain is awakened from a REM state into essentially a normal fully awake state, but the bodily paralysis is still occurring. This causes the person to be fully aware, but unable to move. In addition, this state may be accompanied by hypnagogic hallucinations.

More often than not, sleep paralysis is believed by the person affected by it to be no more than a dream. This is the reason why there are many dream recountings which describe the person lying frozen and unable to move. The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as simply a dream, as one might see completely fanciful objects in a room alongside the normal vision one can see.

ocasionally as your other 1st respondant said your astral body gets taken over ,it happens when we get spiritually lazy, and fail to disolve the astral shell, some meditation teqniques warn of it,
what you dop about it dont give them any reason to take over the astral shell ,think pure thoughts
i know were not helping
my wife had the same thing one time
worry dont fix it ,chances are it was a failed take over attempt that failed ,your unconcious now knows how to avert it happening again
if you take those things seriously search out how to disolve the astral shell ,if you dont dont worry
keep pure thoughts ,evil just needs an in and angry ,fear is just the shot ,fear no evil
well thats what i think shouldnt put it out there but if its any help ,or rings an astral memory all was not in vain.,
its not going nuts ,though of course i must be for putting it out there.

This happened to me many times. Paralyzed in bed semi conscious with open eyes that can see my room in the dark and very scary to me. Where you scared cause you weren't able to do something about it? I think it's the devil, the more you do wrong the more you'll get it.

I had that experience occasionally.Nothing mysterious really,it is more to do with our sleeping position.Don't put your arms across your chest;pressure of the arms on the chest gives the feeling of something pressing against you!

That has happened to me several times in my life. Try not to let it bother you or affect your sleep.
